now it's 13 cents more !! I bet you didn't even notice !! It's too bad gas stations don't put the price of premium up on their signs like they do in the USA. I guess gas companies just found another way that they can rip us off.

Unexplained and apparently opportunistic rises in gas prices are no fun, but try not to get too emotional about them. I usually fill about 30-40L per week. Sitting in a long lineup at a gas station for a one-time savings of $5 or less doesn't really seem like a good use of my time; it seems like wasting a lot of one valuable resource (time, and also perhaps sanity) for a small amount of another (money).

The only practical solutions to high gas prices are: drive more efficiently and drive less. Combining multiple errands into a single trip, driving at off-peak times when traffic is lighter, and walking or biking to places you might otherwise drive will all save a lot more money than these kinds of one-time feel good micro-optimizations.

If I adjusted my schedule to start and finish work an hour earlier each day, I could probably save a few hundred dollars a year in fuel costs, and probably save at least two hours a week in commute time, due to lighter traffic during that commute period. That would be actually worth considering. But I don't do it because, for now, the convenience of keeping my current schedule is, to me, worth the extra cost in both time and money.

the premium price isn't a set price higher than regular gas, its a percentage higher, so when the price of gas goes higher, the premium goes higher by a percentage also, which has made it to be 13 more cents now a days instead of the 10-12 that it was before.

So what excuse those theif using to jack up the price this time! the crude oil price is keep dropping!

What I did now is if I need to fill up gas for $50 let say, I break it down to 10 transactions(is easy for me, since I use the Esso speedpass). This way at least they go charged 10X more by Visa.

- Canadian gas refineries have not been producing as much as we need
- Hurricane Ike is about to drift into the gasoline refining areas in Southern U.S.

As these refineries have shut down, crude oil inventories have actually increased which explains why the price hasn't increased. Gasoline production has been curtailed too, which is why the prices at the pumps have jumped.

How many of you remember when gas was < $0.30 / liter?

My parents owned a station years ago, and when I was driving around at 16 the cheapest they were selling was 29.5 cents a liter for regular. And, premium was only 9 cents more than regular.

Indeed, refineries are fuckers...so is the gov't. Fucken taxes.

I tried to fill up last night, not to save money, just because I knew I didn't have enough for work today, pulled into the station and the lines ups looked to be about 5 or 6 deep for each pump and I didn't see if there was a line up on the other side so I just left.

I filled up this morning, I think it was about $8 more. I'm glad I didn't waste 20 minutes last night waiting.
