Fuel pump issue??
I haven't had any of the extended crank times but since this morning my car started to exhibit rough idle. It seems to briefly shudder hard once in a while while sitting at a light. And also I've been experiencing hiccups for months...
Are these fuel pump failure symptoms? I can't even sleep without knowing what's wrong with my car. Please help  |

I had the rough idle, actually starting running rough under normal driving first...then came the extended crank times.
Took it in, sure enough, fuel pump was bad. Mine was an early 2007 production model...so I know it had the faulty pump parts. Is this a new production model?

HPFP - had mine replace at 2200 miles on my 08 - same symptoms - been good ever since - 3000 miles on the new one so far!

Your car ( and mine) has what I would call the gen 2 pump version, better than the original put in 2006 and most of the 2007 models, but still not perfect.
Cars getting pumps replaced up to very recently have had this version installed, which while better still can go out again. These are often re-manufactured versions of the original design. Recent discussion has indicated that a gen 3 version is now available for 2009 models and some lucky older cars as replacements. It has a different part number and appears to still be in short supply.

My car has recently started doing the hiccup thing at stoplights but have not had any extended cranks. The car always cranks right up just as it did upon delivery. I noticed tonight while at a stop light the symptoms have increased some. I am taking my car in for service this next week to see whats up.
