Tailgate closing on its own
My boy climbs in from the back and sometimes the tailgate will start closing on its own (without pressing any buttons).
Is there some kind if automatic close system when there's weight put on it? This makes very little sense to me. |

I have the exact opposite problem. My tailgate opens by itself when I'm nearby with my key in the pocket. Only happens when it's raining so I guess it could be related to the sensors.
Mine doesn't close by itself like yours though. |

I have the issue when washing the car, with the tailgate typically opening on its own several times. Only solution so far is to have the fob out of range or, if at a commercial hand wash facility, leave the fob in the car. In the latter case, I make sure I have the key card in my pocket as a back up to the possibility of being locked out since the comfort access is also regularly cycling the locks during wash and, I've been advised by BMW, that having the fob in the vehicle does not guarantee it will not lock.

Same here, doors lock and unlock or tailgate opens when rinsing with heavy flow of water. Reminds me to move the fob out of range.

Is it possible he is brushing the button on the lower gate?

I made sure that no buttons were being touched. Hm good suggestion on the kick motion triggering it. I didn't think that the kick motion could also close it, but it's possible that's being triggered with his legs while climbing on for sure. Let me play around with this. Would anybody know if it an be disabled?
