laser light removal

There's a $1000 CAD reduction of MSRP if I choose to remove the laser light. Anybody knows what does BMW replace the laser head light with?

Personally I don't give 2 cents about the laser head light as I am 90% city driving anyway plus, it's probably expensive as hell to repair. Plus, working in a fiber optical communications company, I deal with laser on a daily basis so it really don't wow me at all.

I'm sure it's the standard adaptive LEDs. It is my understanding the lasers are only for high beam over a certain speed anyway in addition to the slightly different cosmetic look.

The vision with lasers at night is really good. I had adaptive leds before on a 6 GT and than was working good as well. And like mentioned the lasers only work with the high beam. For me the cosmetic difference is more than a bit. I think the laser light have a much better look. If it is a 1000 dollar more better look, is up to you.

Deselecting the Icon Adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight high beams option replaces with standard adaptive LED headlamps with U shaped DRLs.

its not the laser lights we were after, but the fixture itself. imo, the "laser" fixture is significantly nicer than the standard LED fixture.

at the time of order, the laser lights comes with the executive package which we preferred so it was a no brainer for $1K.

after we placed the order back in feb 19, we were told the laser lights might be deleted due to part storage. we were so adamant of the appearance of these lights, we told the dealer that we would refuse acceptance of the car if laser lights were not included, so the made sure it had them.

i highly recommend you add the laser lights back in your order.

+1...

They're well worth it!

From my reading of postings it is more an aesthetic issue with majority strongly preferring the laser light package appearance.
For $1000 CND off MSRP (less discount if any) I would drop if I was 99% sure it wouldn’t bother me until I got rid of the car. If I thought it might bother me or if I was not sure, I would keep them.

I've lost track now if the anti-dazzle functionality (when coded) is only on the lazer lights or not? If only lazer, definitely add back in.

I'm kinda agreeing with you on the cosmetic aspect. I'm trying to decide if I had 1K if it goes there or Merino extended upgrade. I'm leaning towards lasers.

I don't have lasers and my lights corner... they don't auto level though. Just corner. 2020 model.

Turn or corner? If they do corner, can you confirm you have (Fig. 5) in the diagram? If you don't have (Fig. 5) and the LED headlights turn based on steering angle.

How can they not auto level? All adaptive LED have leveling functionality.

Had I known that the cornering lights only came with the $1K laser headlights, I would have easily paid for the laser lights, even though the other features don't appeal to me.

Sorry, didn't realize the cornering lights were a different thing than the headlights turning with the steering wheel. No, I do not have that extra cornering light.

Could be wrong about the leveling too, just didn't seem like they did but maybe I've just yet to be on a hill going slow enough I notice (or they level too slow for me to notice), will try that next time I'm out at night.

To be honest people (including me) pay for the blue plastic thing that makes the head light and front view of the car way much cooler.[IMG][/IMG]

The function of the laser lights are outstanding and certainly next level in performance.

Cosmetically, It has become the next high tech signature headlight look for BMW like the original angel eyes. It will be a very sought after cosmetic look in the future for BMW.

If you don't get laser lights, BMW fits your car with halogens and 16" wheels with Dunlop runflats. I don't recommend it.

Typical adaptive headlights can turn the lights up to 15 degrees from center, giving them a 30-degree range of movement.

If 15 degrees of sideward movement isn't enough, such as during low-speed turning in a parking lot or for especially sharp curves, additional lighting (cornering lights) illuminate to supplement the headlights.

Not only the plastic piece, but you also get Iconic DRLs, cornering lights, LED eyebrow turn signals, functional inner and outer projectors, and yeah the very cool BMW Laser designation. But yeah it's all about the looks
