Remove see through space in stock exhaust?

I've been thinking, what bothers me most with how the stock exhaust looks. It is mostly the see through gap between the actual outlet and the bumper attached tips.

I thought of using exhaust wrap to seal the gap. The effect would be - maybe they look more "real"?

Thoughts on this?

I'm honestly just waiting for someone to make slip on quad tips that fit the stock exhaust so I can get rid of the fake surround completely.

100%. If they made that I'd already have bought it.

The trapezoid tips have grown on me. I just don't care for the see through gap. Thinking there has to be a way to fill the gap. I may play with some high temp tape one day and will share pics.

Even Hyundai puts a foam pad around the tip to cover the exhaust gap to make it look less fake..

Thinking something like this:

Design Engineering 010408 Cool-Tape Self-Adhesive Heat Reflective Tape, 1.5" x 15' Roll https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E283S0..._FmbcEb71ER3HF

I'd like to think that the reason it's not connected is to save from exhaust system damage when a rear small bumper impact occurs. Having it fixed in place would really increase the likelihood of that. There's also vibration and heat issues that could occur.

I'd like to think that... but there do seem to be quite a number of corners that were cut in the G20 that I am struggling to find excuses for.

I thought this as well. Mainly the heat issue. But it's not abnormal heat, not like it's a header pipe.

Having some metal tape may help in the looks department and will offer a little flex. Could be worth the experiment.

Separating the pipe from the finisher also helps prevent carbon build up on the tips, therefore allowing them to use painted finishers (much cheaper to produce than an extended stainless piece).
