M2C Engine Sport vs Sport+

Hi guys,

What's the difference in Engine Sport and Sport+ in M2C? I know there's differences in throttle response/mapping and the engine fan being on all the time but anything else?

Specifically, any differences in exhaust noise/flap opening?

Cheers

My sales guy told me that at the 1200 mile service they open up the second flap, and the car will be noticeably louder.

I've turned off ASD. Would there still be a difference?

Also, other than throttle mapping is there any other changes to the engine itself?

Thanks

Code it off (bimmercode) or use this https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1253955

I suppose the only change to the engine is the throttle map, all modes are full power if that's what you're wondering

sport+ mode also cools the engine more aggressively, you'll hear the radiator fans cut on a lot more and the engine will stay about 10 degrees cooler.

It's always on, it's a passive system. There's no way to turn it on/off using the iDrive settings in your car. The only thing that modulates the volume of it is the driving mode selector switch. It will be quietest in Comfort and loudest in Sport Plus. The two best/easiest methods to shut it off completely are to either:

Code it out: https://bimmercode.app/

Buy/install a harness: https://technicpnp.com/product/asd-bypass-harness/

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've been using Sport+ but find the throttle a bit too sensitive on initial take off in traffic and am trying Sport, which is a bit better.

I think there's less burbles compared to Sport+ (ASD off), but wanted to know if anyone knew if there was an actual difference.

Cheers

EDIT: theoretically calves are always open for Sport and Sport+ so there should be no difference in sound right?

I thought so too but apparently it opens/ close depending on rpm and load. I coded it to always open however I don't notice a difference.

sport + seems to run higher boost

been using bimmerlink to monitor sensor values

ASD can be coded out using bimmercode or disabled using bimmerlink

Valves are not always on in sport or sport+, they stay opened longer but not always. They've a weird behavior depending on rpm.

Interesting, also the fact valves are not always open.

Will try out Sport for a while but will probably go back to Sport+ if I find the throttle response/sound a bit too low key.

I have my valves set "open" all the time

I'd like that also, is this something that is doable via OBD dongle/Bimmercode with stock exhaust? Didn't see it in the options.

You can change the throttle mapping as you please and save the car set up as you like directly to a steering wheel M1or M2 button

I use a Vent Display that hooks up to the Can Bus. It allows me to start the car with the exhaust valves open or closed. I leave mine in open.

Bimmercode does not have this option AFAIK.

Unfortunately the custom button mapping is limited. For instance if you want a less aggressive throttle map and everything else Sport or Sport+ you're SOL. I believe Audi let's you customize more parameters.
