Now that my 09 is on the way ?????

My new baby is on the way! I would like to get some ideas for a few mods so as to order, and have the parts arrive about the same time as the car.

Here is my question I just want to get some more torque and a better 0-60 acceleration time. I am not going to track this car so just looking for the straight line.

I already have picked out some after market wheels for the 19's, and looking for just a few parts that may look better with my Space Grey car.

I do not want to go nuts with the car, as I just lost about 15k in after market toys when I traded my last car for the new M3

A simple, who makes the best exhaust for non racing, and any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Scott

1. Gruppe-M and AFE make CAI's for the car. Others will probably follow soon. We got 10hp gain from the Gruppe-M CAI...but it's very pricey @ about $2400.
2. There's MANY exhausts to choose from. I'd recommend a 'downpipe-back' exhaust with high-flow catalytic converters. Expect to spend about $4500 here.
3. ESS Tuning has just introduced their ECU reflash -- saying it will gain 20-30 midrange hp, and 10 hp at the top. It's $995, and you'll need to remove and send them the ECU and they'll send it back. Dyno charts of this ECU reflash should appear on this forum in about two weeks.

All three of these things together will be a great combination.

Thank you, The only question then, who makes the best all around exhaust?

If you want more torque you really only have a couple options: increase displacement, supercharger, or turbo.

Who makes the best exhaust? Sheez....that's so dependent on personal preference that it is about impossible to answer.

I think all of them will prolly net about the same gains, which aint huge. The biggest bang you can get is weight reduction. Some are as heavy as stock, some are much lighter, like the Amuse. Sound is personal preference.

I would say PencilGeek is right on track with the mods. You may also throw in an underdrive pully as well. May help a bit....

If you seriously want to go faster, consider weight reduction! CF trunk, hood, racing seats, remove sound deadening, lighter wheels, etc, etc will yeild acceleration gains too.....

Speed costs money...how fast you wanna go?

I'd hold back on the intake, see what else comes out.
