Ride quality

I'm thinking of going for a 330e M-Sport with passive M-Sport suspension and 18'' wheels. Just how uncomfortable is the ride going to be especially on poor roads? Would going for non-runflat tyres make a big difference?

I have a 330i, M-Sport, non run flats. Coming from a Lexus GS350, it's certainly more firm. No real thumping and it never feels jarring, but it's really firm. Knew what I was getting into in going sportier, not sure if it will wear on me over time or not, but I have some concern there

Thank you for your reply. I am worried about the ride quality. Though some people say that it’s fine. It’s a pity you can’t get the M-Sport with SE suspension.

For a slightly softer/comfort ride quality, in my opinion I would add the M-Adaptive suspension option. My 330 M-Sport with non-runflats is equipped in this manner although not Lexus soft, it is smoother than the regular sport suspension.

I have the 330i M-sport (no adaptive) and it is definitely firm. If your roads are not too bad, it's probably okay. Handling is superb though. just like driving on rails in the bends. love it!

The suspension is quite firm... you feel everything on the road especially with my 19 inch wheels and RFTs.

If comfort is your concern, the 18 inch non run flats are your answer!
With 19 inch and run flats the ride is pretty firm. I say this, coming from a Mercedes-Benz running on 17 inch non run flat.

Find a good "test road" near your local dealer. It may take a couple of weeks to try the various options you will feel comfortable with.

Even though I stuck with non- RFs for 19" wheels, I found the new RFs much improved over earlier versions. You can safely under inflate by a couple of pounds too. Porsche Cayman lists 3# under as a "comfort setting#.

I've got the M Sport+ with 19" run flats and the adaptive suspension and I don't think its bad at all, even with the family in it (Wife & 2 kids)

It's certainly no worse than my old F25 X3 M Sport. It's firm, but still pretty smooth and by no means uncomfortable.

I have the 19's with Go Flats and the Adaptive suspension. The ride is where it should be IMO. Coming from an M car, it feels like pillows. You do get a slightly firm feel but its not bad at all!

Im running 18's for the winter and the ride is very supple on good and mid surfaces. If anyone finds this car too stiff then they are buying the wrong kind of car honestly. Or they need a geriatric.

Moved from F30 330e on 18" RFT to G20 330e on 19" RFT with adaptive. The G20 in comfort mode is much better over speed bumps and general city driving. Still too test full blown sport mode

I will say I'm pleasantly pleased with the passive suspension on my M340. I thought it may be too stiff for daily city driving but it's actually quite livable so far.

It's stiff yes, but it's not like a jolting stiff. It handles bumps well and filters out a lot more than I anticipated. Didn't get the chance to drive an M340 with the Adaptive (only 330i's) so don't have much to compare against.

I will opt for this option on my next vehicle though!

Wish we could at least get the option for 18" wheels on the M-Sport model here in the US. I take it the posters who recommend opting for the 18s are in other world markets... Wish we got this car as configurable as you all

I have a 2022 330i M sport non-adaptive 19” RFT the ride is sporty but I don’t think it’s too harsh. It’s more forgiving than the 2018 M5 in normal mode I traded for it.
I miss the power and torque, I miss the B&W stereo, I miss the seats, I miss the Michelin pilot super sports, i don’t miss the ride compared to the 330i M sport
