thanks for sharing this.
Curious if your "kick to open" is permanently disabled or only when its extended?

No only disabled when the tow bar is out.

My kick to open still functions whether the towbar is out or not...

I don't have the 'kick to open' spec'ed on my X3 so can't comment
But looks like some others have given you your answer or not lol

I must admit I never checked it when it's out. I assumed that it wouldn't work because of the potential trailer attached.

As you may know, when in idrive tow mode: The rear parking sensors and remote hatch open functions are disabled.

In US tow bar installed permanently disables "kick to open" - thinking that there could be a bike carrier, etc that would interfere without Idrive being in tow mode.

Bristle Hound, I thought kick was standard on all G01?

It's not standard on all models. Maybe just M40's. When towbar is out without anything attached, everything work as usuall. That changes when you plug in something - bike rack, trailer, etc. At that point the blind spot and rear sensors are disabled. Don't have the kick to open feature, can't comment on that, but I believe that that is also disabled. Didn't try opening the trunk either from drivers door or remote. Maybe I will when I attached the bike rack again and fold it down - that way it is possible to open the trunk and not hit anything.

Also disables the rear fog lights, alters the brake bias, alters the traction control and ESP settings, detects if any bulbs are out on the trailer & trailer stability control active when trailer attached
If there'a nything else I find I'll let you know lol

Believe it's connected to the comfort access feature.

2400kg on my M40i.
Which translates to 5280lbs.
