He probably wasn't "tuned to the max", but he surely had some mods. A JB2 or SSTT should at least have you even with him, if not a little in front of him.

getting beat by a car length is by no means 'smoked'. They're fast and he probably had light mods. My '07 WRX STI Limited with just a TBE and e-tuning picked up 45whp and 65ft lbs and could literally crush a stockish Evo MR on a freeway roll. Just don't try to beat a well driven Evo or STi at the Stop Light Grand Prix.

omg why you guys hating all the time ?? you wanna tell me you never raced a guy on a freeway or on a stop light ?? some of you acting like all you do in your car is drive it to work and back home !!

back to OP, well evo is first of all very light car and second of all awd, and if it was stock it would have been a fare race i guess, but i guess he had like an exhaust and ECU modified. that should give him enough power to win by a car or so

well actually the EVO had to make up 1/2 carlength before he put another carlength on the 335i. and it all happened from 90-110mph. if that's not smioking someone, its definitely a HARD pull.

I only got a SSTT on my 335 xi coupe and i raced a Evo X stock and Evo IX with pipings and ECU. After 110 you can see both of them in your rear mirror.

Hate to be the contrarian, but I have never "raced" a guy on the highway or from a stoplight.

My friend is currently in the hospital and likely won't ever walk again - because of street racing - and he wasn't doing the racing.

Personally, I think street racing is a stupid contest. It's a question of who spent the most money, not who has the skill. I do all competing on a race track, where I've seen a 1990 BMW 318ti run faster lap times than a 2006 Z06 because the former driver was great and the latter sucked.

Would it not be simpler and easier just to carry your bank statement around and compare that with anyone who challenges you? Much lower risk of injuring some random bystander.

A well modded Evo can put a serious dent in some egos. Unfortunately for it there are a lot of idiots who buy them and either do crap mods, can't drive or both.

There isn't a lot of stuff out there for the X yet, at least by Evo standards. So, there won't be too many of them making big power.

There are a lot of VIII's and IX's that are making well over 500hp though and a lot of those guys leave them stock looking exteriors for "sleeper" looks. As much as you can with factory wide body and a 2' tall wing.

Seriously... any fool can add a boost controller to his car. And like you I have never raced anybody, not even in my Z.

Too bad you won't see me in your rear view mirror. It all depends on state of modification. Sounds like OP will crush that particular evo with a tune.

Fine for them to learn the hard way...but why have everyone else on the road learn that lesson?

Save your energy for the CHP and the judge. If I were street racing and as result injured a love one of your, I would like to see you extend the same level of leniency on me as on yourself
