Floor Jack Choice, pls....

Hello BMW Experts!

Sunex 6602LP ($203.) vs. Arcan XL2T ($154.).
These two floor jacks look very similar. Is one brand considered better than the other, or are they from the same company? Any other jacks that are similar but better?

TIA! Murf

I find nothing compelling about the HF jacks, besides a low price. I am hoping for the next step up in quality.
I also like the long arms of the two jacks I linked to. Jacking from the center of the car is so much easier than just having the side points available.

Garage List
I have the Sunex 6602LP and love it as a garage floor jack. The long reach and low height is a must if your car is fairly low.

The Arcan version looks identical so there's some savings to be had there for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out of the same factory.

Clicking on the Amazon link 2 years back told me I paid $270 for the Arcan but it was worth it at the time so don't mind seeing the price drop now, has been a sturdy low profile jack for me.

Thanks Folks!

Turns out that Arcan is made by Sunex Tools, as are NOS brand jacks.

Going by the Amazon pages (Sunex site isn't responding), the Sunex has an 18" throw, whereas the Arcan has a 32" chassis, but it looks like they are measuring the same dimension. Overall dimensions are close, but different:
Sunex: 36 x 15.8 x 7.5 inches
Arcan: 32.5 x 8.2 x 11.2 inches

My HF jack has the same capability. It looks almost identical to the Arcan, but it's a 3 ton. I'd be surprised if it didn't come out of the same factory. I might want something better if I used it more often, but three or four times a year is all I need it for. I paid $79.95 for it. I would have expected shipping to be a deal breaker, shipping weight was 100 pounds, but FedEx delivered it for $7.99.

HF floor jack, fine. HF axle stands that you actually work beneath, opt for a higher weight rating.

Floor Jack Choice, pls....

Just my 2¢: I also have a HF floor jack, the Pittsburgh Low Profile 3-ton. For a casual tree shade mechanic, I have no qualms with it. The Sunex one looks like it has a lower minimum height, but I can fit the HF Low Profile jack under my car including a jack pad adapter; lowered on H&R Sports, and I paid about 1/3 of the price of that Sunex. Up to you, but from my experience and what I've heard, HF's floor jacks are actually pretty solid. I wouldn't discredit them based on HF's old reputation.

Well, that was then & this is now. I see nothing comparable at HF.
Seems many of the Chinese made jacks come from the same company (S** S*?). I think Sunex (& Arcan) are made in Taiwan, but not sure.
My present jack has lasted over 30yrs. I'm trying not to get a '5 yr' jack, like wot some out there are reported to be. That's just a waste of time, money, & natural resources (IMHO).
And I like the long body to reach the center jack points (which is different than a low cup). Nobody cares about that feature?
The aluminum jack that Solid Jake linked to looks nice & lite! But a short body....

You taking so long to decide that arcan price in Amazon just went up...lol.

Anyway I got no problem with harbor freight tools. They are cheap and work well enough.

Friendly reminder "Always use a jack stand"

I've had Harbor Frieght's Pittsburgh branded low profile jack for years, no complaints. I actually want one of their longer reach Daytona branded ones. They were actually sued by Snap-on as they are virtually identical. I dont remember the outcome other than it was settled outside of the courts.

Since I lowered the f34 on ACS springs, my existing jack doesnt quiet fit when lifting from the front, need to have the front wheels on half inch boards. So when i finally get tired of that, I'll be going Daytona. My one friend already says its much nicer than the HF Pittsburgh one he replaced

Things change quickly. Today HF has a 15% off coupon that wasn't on their site yesterday, good through Wednesday. Next week they'll have some other promotion. I never buy anything there at their regular price, if they don't have a special deal going on today they will tomorrow.
