Error code (thermostat)

I am getting the attached error code. It's 1D2404

Map thermostat, control : line interruption

Have you seen this? What fixed it?

I've read of some sort of extended warranty, 10yr/120,000mi .

I have a 428i produced 10/14 with an N26 engine and this warranty should apply. Does anyone know?

If your coolant thermostat is indeed bad... yes, it should be covered under N26 extended warranty. Had mine replaced for free around 55k miles.

I'm not positive this code indicates coolant thermostat failure, however.

Do you have a CEL/SES light on dash?

I remember having that pop up and quickly reappear after code deletion. That's what led me to take to dealer and have checked out.

I had this code, it means that there's no connection to heater element inside thermostat, and ECU cannot open it when needed (sport mode, wot ...). Otherwise it will open when coolant reaches 98 degrees (something like that).

The only fix is thermostat replacement, and you should be covered by extended warranty.

Thanks to both!

Called the dealer, they said they will honor the warranty, I'll be taking it in on Thursday.

Used to have this code, and was ok after changing thermostat. Changed my coolant at the same time as well.
