Strange iDrive Behaviour

Got in my car this morning to find that my works iPhone was no longer connecting to my car and had to forget the link on my phone and re-pair again.

When setting off from my driveway I noticed that the map in the middle of the cockpit screen was missing (just blank) so I went into the options where it was still turned on. After switching the option off and then back on it came back on.

I also noticed that my auto lights took an age to switch off considering I was driving in glorious sunshine.

Bit of a strange morning if I’m honest.

Anyone else had this happen?

On the auto lights issue I had similar occurrences on my f10.

As for your other observations..... no idea.

My first post on this forum and I too have had issues with the idrive this morning. I started the car and everything was fine, de-iced the car then turn it off and locked it. 5 mins later unlocked the car and got in and noticed the car picture on the dash had change from the white 3 series to a grey X3 and the centre idrive screen is dead. I drove to the train station and the centre screen was still dead. Just hoping it is all working normally tonight when I get back to it.

Welcome to BMW software. My advice take it in and let them upgrade your iStep level. I believe new software was released this week. In your iDrive remote software upgrade it would say 11/2019.xx if updated to current.

More recently, BMW has been issuing releases every 2-4 weeks trying to tackle the myriad of bugs.
