Dashboard camera recommendations?

Hi Group,

First post. I bought a m340i in late September. 6 days later I got into a nasty hit and run accident. Over 30k in damages, only 400 miles on the car. If I had a dash cam I could have at least caught the person who hit me.

I'm looking to get a dash cam. I have all the packages, so one that will not get in the way of driver assistance/parking assist etc. I'm not looking to hard wire it into the car since it's a lease. Also parking protection would be awesome. Any suggestions? I found this one that looks pretty good.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about your accident. Same thing happened to my F10 when it had 2K miles on it but cameras were already installed and the damage on my car was just a replacement of a rear bumper cover.

I have Blackvue 2 channel and I really like it. It has a parking mode & wifi and etc.

I am not sure what hard-wiring has to do with a lease. All of my leases had cameras and radar detectors hardwired. Super easy to pull them off before lease end. If you want parking protection you either have to hard-wire or get battery packs.

Here is what I would recommend and you can do hours of research on BlackBoxMyCar, it is one of the best sites out there.

Im using a Blackvue DR900S-1CH and while it's a little pricey I highly recommend it. Been using it for a while in my F30 and I'll be transferring it to my G20. Once hardwired in it's truly set and forget until you actually need it.

If the Drive Recorder worked reliably, in theory you wouldn't even need a dashcam.
