My bmw 360i been thru it today 😥😢😓

So I ran over a log today on the highway, sigh. Made the biggest bang ever. Luckily didn't do any damage to the body (not to sure about the undercarriage). I have tire coverage and will be getting them replaced because I checked em and it seems to look perfectly fine to me. The only thing is that it seems to ride differently especially when I let off the gas.(vibrates allot especially the wheel)

Any comments on places on the car or what I should check to make sure everything's in place (most of the impact was on the passenger side)😢

I'd get the alloys and tracking / alignment checked. You could have buckled a wheel or knocked the alignment out.

Also get that undercarriage check just in case you crack something and the vehicle become unsafe.

If not the wheel alignment, the wheel balance could be off. That actually sounds more plausible than wheel damage if you can't see anything visually.

Inspect your control arms especially the lower ones.

Those look like 18s. Was wondering if I should downgrade for better road hazard protection but without sacrificing handling or grip.

Visually looks fine but a lot cold be wrong. Best thing would be jack up front and pull and push things. See if anything loose. Check if wheel rocks around. Hopefully nothing bent and just needs alignment

Yeah I thought the 340 came standard with 18s so wasn't sure the brakes would clear for anything smaller. I have sport line though. EDIT: I checked just now and the standard calipers are pretty close to the wheel even with 19's, so I doubt anything smaller than an 18 would fit.

From the pics, it looks like the spindle/knuckle has been pushed up on the strut body.

Have your mechanic check for suspension damage. Other members have reported bent strut and damaged spindle/knuckle after hitting a curb/deep pothole.

Good luck.

Larry

See any oil stains below the thrust arm knuckle? Also, spin the front wheels and see if they're still true.

+1.

Due to the knuckle being higher up on the strut, it also looks like the tire may be scraping the rubber spring perch.

It does look like the hub carrier has moved up recently because of the streaks and clean exposed end of the strut. Compare this to the left side and see if there is a difference. If the impact moved the carrier, I would also have the hats checked too.
