What's that nock
Recently my project rebuild F30 320d has developed a nock at low speeds.
This seems to occur when hitting the smallest of bumps i.e. man hole cover, or a speed bump mostly but not exclusively when the front wheels are not pointing straight forward i.e. going round a turn. The sound is coming from the front axle, never when stationary (when turning the wheel or compressing the suspension). The noise is a click noise, like metal on metal tapping but quite loud. My top suspects are: Steering rack, suspension mounts, steering arm, sway bar (as all these parts were replaced). You can hear it about 13 seconds in the youtube video below (sorry about background noise). *I've taken it into Sytner but they won't work on a cat N so they can't help, it would be good to get an understanding of the issue before i try independents. If anyone can help I'll get you a beer. Thanks. |
