Vibration Question

Not having had a BMW before, I have put about 600 miles on my 330i w/sports package, occasionally I can feel a vibration in the steering wheel or somtimes floor, this does not feel like a shimy or balance problem since the steering wheel does not shake, I am wondering if this maybe related to having low profile run flats or possibly engine vibration, the road surface seems to have an impact as well, the car feels smoother in the afternoon and this is appears to be intermittent thing, thanks for your comments!

Ok, I give this a shot.

From what you say, I will diagnose that, yes, this is normal.

The feeling you are getting from the steering wheel is the BMW magic known as road feel. BMWs are famous for allowing some road feel through the steering wheel that allows you to feel connected with the road, yet not enough to be considered a harsh or uncomfortable.

The latest generation bimmers with runflats are experiencing a bit more of this feel because of their runflat tires. You can tone it down a bit by swapping the tires for non-runflat ones.

The ride is smoother in the afternoon because the temp is higher and the hard rubber of your summer tires has softened.

Your reaction is understandable coming from a non-BMW with maybe soft and/or sloppy steering.

So, enjoy! You are now one with the road, with your bimmer and extension of your driving prowess!! Okay, that was a bit melodramatic.

Either that, or you've got some mud stuck in a wheel, throwing off your balance.
