looking to buy 335D

I have recently had an accident So Ill be in the market for a car shortly. I have always wanted a 335D the blend of economy and power. So I am looking for 1,) one with the Msport suspension. other Msport goodies are nice but suspension at minimum 2,) paddle shifters if im gonna be stuck with an auto... I already know how to do the trans flash for better performance. 3.) the Idrive so its easier to play my music from my phone. I decided to post here in the off chance someone is looking to sell theirs and if Im really lucky they have the off road mods done to remove the pesky emissions systems that ruin these fine engines. Im In an area Of PA where emissions are not even part of the inspection. Would be willing to travel nationwide for the right car as well.

Don't see any new messages...
Swapping the wheel is easy, the wiring takes a little work, and slight modification if you are converting to the DCT paddles instead of the normal sport ones.

So update. According to INS adjuster the check they just cut me is only a check for the past 2 months I have been out of work from the injury... So no compensation check yet:-( I guess I have to wait until the settlement. These insurance people always make it seem like they are making it happen now... then a month later its still "happening"

Good News Just made a deal for a 2011 335D has 114k miles clean title one owner no accidents. Got to the used car lot started right up. Car was very low on power felt like a dog. They pulled it in the shop and we removed the egr and put my lighted usb camera down the intake.... oh man is this thing caked up. we did a compression check on all cylinders and all are good. I showed them the costs for the cleaning. So they offered to sell it to me if i was interested for what they had in it. So headed back tomorrow gonna get it for about $5k and fees.

Wow. Automobile depreciation is real thing. I could've saved 15 grand if I waited 5 years.

I view the car as more valuable than ever - even with the hail damage. But it's actually relatively worthless on the open market now. Looks like I'll be keeping this one for awhile...

Yeah, that's why I'm probably keeping my 2010. It's almost perfect (and original) other than a couple dings and scratches in the clearcoat. But I doubt I could get even $8K even if I cleaned it up and worked hard to sell (like on BAT.)

Only reason I got this one so cheap is the horrid CBU, and bad harmonic balancer. If its a well taken care of car. No real issues and has the emission delete-> huge boost to value. There are a few 335D going for decent prices here in philly. Another 2011 @ $6900 and one at a dealer for $7599.

They had the price @ $7900 when i came to look at this one. Someone else also came to look both of us test drove it and it was super slow had no power. They left so I started talking to them to see what kind of deal i could make on it. I figure ill be ahead after the clean up and all the work im going to put into doing the deletes. Should be a great car for the rest of its life then :-)

Hey Lexx,

Where did you get your CBU cleaned in the Boston area? Have any place you’d recommend?

I had mine cleaned about 70k miles ago through a local dealer under warranty. They sent out for the actual cleaning/blasting, but it took close to 2 months to get the engine back together and working again. Ended up replacing 8 or 9 injectors. (Yes, I know there are only 6... They replaced a few of the newly installed ones our of frustration! Hey, it was their dime!). They only got it to work after I gave them several useful printouts from this forum! They had me in a 535i loaner for the two months, so I couldn’t complain too much. I just shudder to think of what those two months of parts and labor would cost outside of warranty! My car is starting to run rough again, skipping a bit on cold starts. Sort of how it went right before I needed to clean it the last time. Just hope I can find someone who can do it better than the stealership. I have a great Independant BMW garage, they just won’t touch the CBU in diesels. They claim they can’t get the right parts to do the diesels.

Any suggestions of where to go locally for the CBU?

Thanks!

Join the FB group and PM Tyler Hanna...He may still be doing it on the side and will be done right. Might also want to consider tackling vcg
