• MSRP 228i xDrive Gran Coupe - $37,500 plus $995 Destination
• MSRP M235i xDrive Gran Coupe - $45,500 plus $995 Destination.

Production begins November 2019 for US market.
Market Launch March 2020 for US market.

• 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder
• 301 HP @ 5000-6250 rpm / 332 lb-ft @ 1750-4500 rpm (M235i xDrive)
• 0-60 in 4.7 seconds [4.6s with optional M Performance Package's overboots function] (M235i xDrive)
• 228 HP @ 5000-6000 rpm / 258 lb-ft @ 1450-4500 rpm (228i xDrive)

  • larger turbocharger with built-in exhaust manifold and integral diverter valve

  • independent transmission oil cooler (separate from engine's coolant circuit)
  • electric 850 watt fan
  • two remote coolant radiators in wheel arches
  • enlarged expansion tank
  • dual-branch exhaust system with minimal backpressure

Tranmission / Performance Control

• 8 Speed automatic transmission
• DSC
• DTC setting (Dynamic Traction Control) allows great degree of slip
• ARB system (near-actuator wheel slip limitation system)
• BMW Performance Control (intelligently applies brakes at wheels on side of the bend)
• When DSC switched off, EDLC (Electronic Differential Lock Control) applies brakes to simulate mechanical limited slip differential
• xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system (can split drive 50:50) if necessary
• Newly developed standard mechanical Torsen limited- slip differential in M235i xDrive
• Launch Control function allows full 332 lb-ft peak torque to be available in first and second gear

Chassis / Suspension

• Aluminum hood and trunk
• Standard bracing in engine compartment and rear suspension area
  • Strut tower tie bar and bracing on the front axle subframe and in the tunnel area, plus an anti-roll bar mounting with high preload
• Standard sports suspension and the M Sport steering with more direct ratio
• M Sport suspension standard on M235i xDrive, optional for 228i xDrive as part of M Sport Package
• M Sport suspension lowers height by 10mm
• Multi-link rear suspension
• Optional Dynamic Damper Control (lets driver choose from two different shock settings)

• Standard on M235i xDrive: 18-inch M Double spoke wheels with 225/40R18 all-season runflat tires
• Standard on 228i xDrive: 17-inch Multi-spoke wheels with 225/45R17 all-season runflat tires.
  • 17-inch wheels with performance non- runflat tires can be specified as can wheel and tire combinations from a varied selection, including 18-inch wheels with 225/40R18 all-season runflat and 19-inch wheels with 235/35R19 performance tires.
  • Optional M Performance package includes 18-inch wheel with non-runflat performance tires or all season run-flat tires or 19-inch wheels with 235/35R19 non-runflat performance tires or alternatively a 19”-inch bi-color option with performance tires.
• M Sport brakes standard on M235i xDrive and optional on 228i xDrive Gran Coupe.

Hopefully they will make their way into the update for the 2 Coupe, except it will be RWD, offer a M240i with a B58 engine and manual transmission.

Every BMW has the same interior now. It's so boring. 2 series - 8 series same wheel, same buttons, same screen, same layout.

I get it, saves a ton of money on parts, assembly, and R&D... but can we at least have different tachometers? It's just a software skin.

If they don't they'll be making a stupid decision. The only good press these days that they get is from the 2 series/M2 and its basically their halo car right now. They need to keep the coupe RWD, w/ an inline 6, and a manual.

The 2 series is the only reason I currently have a bimmer in the garage, so I hope the coupe keeps its winning formula, otherwise, I guess I'll be jumping ship!

Where would you go? Porsche, Mustang, Camaro, challenger, and BRZ are the only options I can think of. I'm stuck unable to afford a Porsche, not trusting American built cars, and not willing to take such a drastic power loss on the brz/frs
