It's listed on the monroney sticker for the F90 (M5)

Trucks, Mini-Vans and SUVs should be exempt from the Gas Guzzler tax (which has been around since 1978) according to the EPA so not sure why it is being assessed on the X5M.

Maybe due to the current popularity of SUV/trucks. Back in '78, this segment represented less than 25% of vehicles sold and thus were exempt. Perhaps the law has been reconsidered?

I would think if the law changed then the EPA wouldn't show on their website that it hasn't and that there are exemptions.

You would think...but the tax is clearly noted on the ordering guide, unfortunately.

It looks like the law was last updated in 2005 and SUVs are still exempt. Obviously they do not list "SUV" in the law but rather specific conditions that need to be met. It could be the X5M does not meet them for some reason. |

I think its wrong. Trump is not going in that direction with the EPA, less regulation, also I purchased a Trackhawk 10 months ago and it does not have Gas Guzzler tax on the sticker. Even so, GG is about 1/2 of your first years fuel bill.

Yeah, this was cleared up with some of the guys who already have orders placed. No tax was noted in their builds. My 2018 X5M never had a guzzler tax. I was just surprised to see it mentioned in the order guide and thought maybe something was on the horizon.
