wiper wash fluid warning

Hi guys,

I have an F31 LCI from 09/15 ...

about a week ago the wiper wash fluid warning came on ... i topped up the fluid and thought that was it, but unfortunately not ... still goes on every time i turn on/off the car ... tried topping up one more time with a different type of washer fluid but to no avail ...

still goes off everytime...

Anyone tried this? And can anyone come up with a solution? thanks

If you used the wrong type of fluid the sensor can become inoperative. Only use 'the blue stuff'.

Thanks ... unfortunately the first one I topped up with was transparent ...

I added more as mentioned earlier, but the second I used the blue version.. will try to see what happens when I've used up all of the transparent fluids and refill with blue ...

Transparent is probably OK. The active ingredient is alcohol, which is transparent. Most fluid is dyed blue, to differentiate it from other fluids. Silicone based fluid, like Rain-X, causes level sensor failure. You still may have sensor failure, or perhaps an unplugged sensor cable.

Well the first kind I filled in was some cheap shit from the local hardware store, so it might be silicone based ? No idea to be honest... better check the container ...

Thanks for elaborating!

The cheap stuff isn't going to be silicone based. In this case the cheap stuff, alcohol based, is the good stuff.
