330e UK questions

Hi, couple of quick questions please if you can help:-

1) What's the approx cost to charge the car at home?

2) I think the petrol tank is 40l what combined range might that give if you use the car 80% motorway miles

So we pay about 14p/KWh on our current tariff and the car has a 12KWh battery. I don't think it allows you to run it down completely but worst case 12 x 14p = £1.68. If you factor having to get a charge point installed then allow for about £450 and amortise that cost over the life of the contract/ownership (about 40p/day over a 3 year period). If you don't get a tethered unit the cables are quite expensive. I've got a 10m cable and it cost £200.

I'm guessing you'll get about 45MPG at a steady 70MPH and at that speed the electric motor won't be super useful. 45*8 gallons(40ltrs)= 360 miles + 30 miles of electric. So "about" 400 miles, obviously assuming you do one long trip and don't charge it up again.

I'll let you know in a week or two! :-)

Currently public charge points in Scotland are free, beats charging at home although you need to find one that is not being used. The Charge Your Car app works well and those which are available[IMG][/IMG]

Did you go for POD in the end? They took 2 weeks to get back to my basic sales enquiry so I figured I'd look elsewhere... :-)

Had a survey and now Waiting for the quote for a workplace charging point as at home we are on the fifth floor so not able to put in a home point. A £500 UK grant is hopefully available.

Good call on the economy 7! We use Octopus Energy and on enquiry they've just introduced an EV tariff. Only 5p/KWhr between 00:30 and 04:30, so almost 1/3rd of the normal rate. The daytime rate and standing charge is the same we're currently paying so no downside. Also all energy is from green sources.

If anyone is interested in moving then the URL below gives us £50 each by way of new customer referral. Their customer service is excellent, pricing very competitive and they won Which? Best Energy provider this year.

Here's the URL reference:

share.octopus.energy/nice-gale-893

Here's the link to their EV tariff...

No worries. If you see my note above you can get EV electricity tariff's which are almost 1/3rd of the price I quoted. So pretty much 50p to fully charge the car using the scheduler between 0:30 and 04:30 hrs :-)

from my experience 290-330 miles is a realistic range (1 full charge + 1 full tank of petrol) if you drive normally

if you drive this car in Sport mode all the time (engine always on), and drive it normally, the fuel consumption is around 35 mpg

Inland revenue allow 4p per mile for electric cars so I'd say this is a reasonable approximation of the costs using a standard tariff.

As for range, with my F30 330e in those circumstances I currently would get 350 miles or so.

M Sport missing items

Hi guys

I have a 330E M Sport ordered for delivery in late October.
Can someone tell me why a few of the options standard in the 330I M Sport are seemingly not included in the 330E M Sport pack?

I’m thinking primarily BMW Loudspeaker advanced, M Sport suspension, M Sport braking system and variable sports steering.
I understand why the larger fuel tank is missing but what do we get in lieu of these deletions?

Basically nothing. I can only assume a cynical marketing ploy to get you to buy the M Sport + pack to get most of that stuff...

Unless you have the 330I with the same costed M Sport pack.
I’m just confused( and a little annoyed) that the very same M Sport pack for a 330E is short changed fo4 whatever reason

How much is the M Sport + pack for a 330i M Sport? Is it substantially cheaper than for a 330e M Sport, assume so? If not then it sounds like 330i owners are getting ripped because they've already paid for half of it and only got a hi-fi upgrade as a bonus... Let's face it, the M Sport suspension is probably just marketing, different dampers and springs but I bet there is no manufacturing cost difference...

I think they may have removed the M Sport suspension on 330e because of ride quality issues/managing the extra weight. I tried a standard 320d M Sport with non RFT on 18" wheels and found the ride far too uncomfortable. The adaptive in comfort mode is amazingly better, even with 19" wheels and RFT tyres...

As an aside, I think all 330e's have the full iDrive package + TFT dashboard, whether SE, Sport or M Sport.

I thought the M Sport pack cost the same for the 330I as the 330E whereas the 330I seems to include more functionality with the steering, suspension, braking, loudspeakers and larger tank for the same price? If I’m right it hardly seems fair to charge the same for the M Sport pack in the 330E

Yep, that was my point but I've never priced up a 330i to know what they charge for the M Sport + pack... If it's the same as the 330e/320d/320i then 330i M Sport + owners are being ripped... although I think they do get a limited slip diff that you don't get with other engines. Perhaps someone can correct me?

No he means 330e owners are getting ripped off as there are less features in MSport pack for the same price?

I think.

Exactly JustChris. If I understand correctly that the M Sport package is £2,900 for both 330I and 330E then the 330E is being short changed. IF I’m interpreting this correctly
