Drivetrain malfunction & millions of errors ⚠️
Hey everyone! So I purchased this 2012 328i about 2 months back and can’t get to the bottom of this Drivetrain malfunction error & limp mode. It comes up as soon as I just turn ignition on.
Ran Carly and this is some of the errors: 1B5302 - Terminal 15N 2: no voltage 120408 - Boost pressure control: shutdown 123702 - Electronic wastegate position sensor 122002 - Diverter valve control: short cuircut 102A01 - Air mass meter, signal: electrical fault & many more codes in attachment below 😬 I should note it has 46k miles and has been in accident before so I changed the positive battery cable, spark plugs, ignition coils, but no luck, all errors still remain. Attached below is the full list of errors I’m getting when I run Carly, and the second photo is a diagnostic that a local shop(that works on BMW’s) did on my car. Any help would be appreciated! |

Did you buy it from an auction or what? Based on the attached breakdown of issues - this 328 has had multiple electronic components screwed around with.

I bought it locally from an owner who bought it from an auto auction a year or so ago. He's been driving it in this condition while he owned it from what I remember him saying

I'm surprised you're driving it, how far is nearest BMW dealership? You'll want them to diagnose everything - then you can figure out who or when you'll fix what.
BTW, not to put down auctions, my car was also sold at an auction. But it was bought by a luxury car broker who has a BMW dealership he works with to get the cars inspected and buyer ready. Last edited by floridaorange; 09-13-2019 at 09:00 AM.. |

From the errors you have I don't understand why you changed the parts you already did?

Either you can try to research every code online to see possible culprits and fixes and hope what you try works...and if it doesn't, well time and money go bye bye, as in the case of the plugs and coils. Or, take it to a dealer or mechanic that specializes in BMWs and have them tell you what's wrong. From there you can decide to either have them fix it or do the correct work yourself. Not sure how much you paid for the car, but I'd get your wallet ready because it looks like you might be spending a bit more. PSA: always get a pre-purchase inspection done by a professional. Good luck!

Also, check this thread out. Sounds like similar symptoms. Unfortunately, the OP in that post didn't conclude what was wrong or if/how it was fixed.
