quick tire help

I'm going back to my summer 162 wheel/tires right now and I realized that the OEM tires don't have a direction arrow (ie, whether it goes on the right or the left). The winter tires have an arrow and the word "Rotation" after it. Nothing on the summers. How do I know?

Car is sitting on the jack in the garage. help appreciated.

Which tires are they ?

If there isnt a rotation signt on either sidewall, then they arnt directional

Some also say "outside" on one side, this side must be facing away from the car

I see you are in the US, so probably have the Bridgestones
They say "outside" on one side

This won't help put them back on but most people label or mark the tires as they come off.

Therefore, please mark your winter tires! The tires should go back to the exact position they were on (Left front, left rear, etc.).

Fleet - yeah they are the Bridgestone 18" summer tires. Doesn't give a direction, but does say "Outside" on it. But that's obvious since it's already on the rim so I know which way is outside.

jspira- that's a very good tip. but why should they go on in the same position? why can't I make a front wheel the back wheel next time, assuming the tires aren't staggered. I know I can't change it to the other side since they can only rotate in 1 direction.

Sorry, I thought you ment you were putting them onto the rims

Just look at the tread, if they are in a ^ pattern, the ^ should point forward towards the front bumper...

If they are in blocks then they are probably not directional tires..

Do you have the RE50A bridgestones? Those are directional I believe.. ?

No they are not directional but Asymmetric

Uh, maybe I am missing something but 162's ARE staggered.

JIM - yeah we know they are staggered but what I was asking was whether a front (or rear) wheel/tire goes on the left or right side? Fleet answered that the Bridgestones that come w/ the 162s are not directional - ie, they can rotate in both directions - ie, you can put them on either side of your car if they are already mounted on the rim.

I've got the same RE050IIA tyres (17" 161) and was wondering the same question also.

I was looking for the direction arrows (like all the winter tyres have) but apparently there's only the marker "outside" on the tyres. So it doesn't matter if the tyres go in the left or right side if mounted correctly on the rims.
