Agree with oakey46. If you don't have any issues, leave them alone. But, I did have to adjust mine slightly cause I was getting a secondary thunk recently, which appeared to be due to the rubber stoppers being too far out. I made a few turns inwards and it eliminated the thunking noise.

If you need to adjust them, just screw them in or out (just a little bit at a time), until the door rests against them without rattling.
There's no 'default' position as such, presumably they're adjusted for each individual car. Yes, despite the so-called precision robot assembly in Germany. You should see the warp in my front doors
