2019 G05 owners please respond. Many of us have the issue that the rear cross traffic alert only comes on inches away from a collision. Ridiculous! But technically it works.
Would like to know if yes you have the same issue or no mine works fine. To me works fine only if when backing out and pausing I get alerts on approaching vehicles at a reasonable distance. Not having to scare them to death before getting an alert!
Also hope those with the issue are pestering their service manager. The only way to get a fix is a lot of 'noise'!

No Mine Works just fine!!!!


Just last night mine warned me while I was in reverse of a car approaching about 1.5 spots to the driver side. As I pulled out it beeped and after I pulled out while putting it into drive there where 3 people walking in-front it was also beeping at me. They were about 6' from the front. Mine has been working fine since ownership and two updates currently on .48. I don't really watch the cameras or the screen much I like to look back still so I only ever hear the beeps not the flashing. Yes I was also in motion during the back up but stopped and put into drive and no motion it alerted me of the pedestrians.

Mine has worked fine , has alerted me many times while backing up in parking Garage, parking lots

I consider the cross traffic alert and the side area warning that shows up in the side mirrors as secondary to actually looking/checking with my own eyes. I've been in the technology business too long to trust my safety and my passengers' safety to a computer if I can avoid doing so.

These safety systems are great additions to a car, but the best safety feature is between your ears if you use it correctly.

Thanks all so far. Many of us came from cars whith earlier warning systems but even comparing my 2018 540i to the 2019 X5 in simple terms the 540i 'works', the X5 doesn't. My service manager tested three others on the lot and all exhibited the almost too late to avoid a collision symptom. Something strange going on. He says there should be no variability in radar detection range but i find that hard to believe considering the complaints (i.e see thread "cross traffic alert - is yours working?").

Same here X5 2019 - it works but I find it very late detection. In that other thread everyone agreed that we need Early / Late configurable option. It is mostly "Late" for everyone.
