Glacier silver, just as Melbourne red, is only offered for non-msport models in this generation.
Not the greatest decision by BMW in my opinion, never understood why they make less color options for m-sport trim. |

I can't understand the logic behind this either. Silver and Red were always available with M Sport package on E90 and F30. Why it's no longer available on G20 is beyond me.

In general it seems as a common current trend among the automakers to reduce color options for their models. A pallete now usually consists of white, black, couple of grays, sometimes brown and dark blue tones. Take a look at G30 or modern Volvos: there's literally no other choice except mentioned above. At least G20 still has brighter blue and orange.
This reduction, I guess, makes sense financial-wise: the producers cut some of their costs by having only more popular colors in mass production, at the same time they push customers who want something more exquisite to make an expensive individual order. |

Cost-saving argument seems false because silver and red are still on offer for non-M sport cars. There is no additional cost of enabling them for the M-sport cars. All of these cars are painted and produced in the same factory. |
