Burning oil question

Hey you guys so these past couple mo the I have experience and noticed that I have been burning oil
A quart or quart in a half every 2 to 3 months

Is this very bad should I get this checked out
Is it normal
Or is it cuz is very hot right now

Note: the car is tuned and I do drive the car very aggressive every day literally lol I have a heavy foot my car most of the time is in sport mode and I'm just banging through gears

I have noticed that it burns more during the summer

I want to say this last time I refilled it lasted maybe 1 month in a half or so maybe 2

Does this sound normal ?

Track it by miles not months, we can't tell how much you drive to say whether its normal or not.

Ok ima track it by miles lol

it says it needs to refill now

So ima maybe Refill today and see how long it last again lol

I maybe average about 1k miles a month maybe 700-1000
A month
I do about 20 25 miles a day some times
30

Around there

So maybe every 3k miles I add a quart

Sometimes even longer 3500 miles

one quart

I don't see any smoke at start up or none of that so idk I wonder if is just normal from just driving tooo aggressive and this heat
Right now in SoCal is like 95+ daily

Is 98 right now

During the winter I think I never even add any during the cold season

Ima start keeping an eye out more

A quart every 2-3k miles isn't bad for tuned. It's probably fine, but track it anyhow.

The BMW oil is as good as any, it won't make a difference so long as its LL-01 certified.

How often are you changing the oil?

What are your power mods?

How long have you owned the car?

You might have a slow oil leak. I thought I was burning oil too. But it turned out to be a slow leak from the ofhg which turned into a more significant leak after a couple months. Where in SoCal are you? If you're close. I can meet you and try to see if it's the same issue I experienced recently.

If you run liqui moly molygen oil it has a uv additive in it such that you can see it under black light and determine any leaks.

That amount of consumption would not be considered abnormal especially since you acknowledged that you drive the car fairly hard and it's tuned. 83k miles of aggressive city driving is going to cause some wear-n-tear.

Take a look around for oil at the OFHG, left rear of the valve cover (usually you'll smell burning oil if it's seeping but still) and inside coolant reservoir (Sometimes an OFHG leak will mix with coolant).

I would change the oil 3-4K miles, especially since you drive it hard.

I don't have any leaks
I've checked the ofhg and it looks good the valve cover gasket got replaced already by the dealer under warranty maybe a year ago

Ummm I'll check again to be in the safe side

And I am thinking of swapping my oil out a bit more recent

what oil should I give a shot

I have only done oem since I got the car

And my mistake the car has 78k idk where I got 83k

But same thing is pretty up there in miles lol

I got it when it had 18k miles
