How to use Apple Carplay effectively?

hi all

My 2019 build X2 came with Apple Carplay, free for one year.

However no real instructions on how to use it well. The dealership genius has been helpful, but was hoping there was some sort of written guide with shortcuts to use?

One of my questions is:

1. how do you listen to a text message a second time? When I click on the displayed message it just prompts me to reply.

2. If I don't continue the Carplay subscription after 12 months, then will the normal BMW system allow messages to be read out or displayed on the info screen?

3. Is there a shortcut to bring up the Apple car play icon screen? I always have to go to the homescreen, then scroll left and select the 'Carplay' icon.

thank you

For the second question - Siri can read your messages, even if you do not have CarPlay active. Not sure about the others, since I don't have carplay.

I guess thinking about it... it's just using Siri. So I guess if I hold the 'speak' button for 3 seconds then my phone will respond to any request.

i found a list online of Siri commands so will try them out..

For example "send a new message to..."
or "read new message from ...."

I've just never used Siri on the phone before as it's easier just to actually use the phone!

Re #2
Just go in and disconnect your phone from CarPlay and test to be sure it acts like you want.
