Yet Another Recall - Tie Rod May Break

Cut and pasted from NHTSA site below. See attached for more info. Please be careful everyone. This one is a serious issue, not just a trim piece problem.

To not cause widespread panic, here's more info from one of the attachments regarding the scope of affected vehicles: "BMW of North America, LLC is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall (effective August 8, 2019) on a small number of Model Year 2018 and 2019 BMW vehicles that were produced between July 28, 2017 and April 5, 2019."

Also, I attached BMWs TSB for this recall. For those mechanically inclined, you can at least inspect yourself and possibly DIY the repair if you dont want to wait.

Does the 'potential number of units affected 32' mean it will only affect 32 actual cars (at least at this stage)? or is it the number of components affected...

This should give you the answer, from the BMW USA (lower) document listed above, which appears to confirm it is a total of 32 vehicles (20 BMW + 12 Mini).
'Which BMW Group models in the US are potentially affected by this Safety Recall?
Approximately 20 Model Year 2018-2019 BMW X1 and X2, and 12 Model Year 2019 MINI Cooper Convertible
and Countryman vehicles, are potentially affected.
