How to turn off lowering mirror while backing up

How do you disable this behavior?

I think in most systems you flip the mirror adjustment switch to the driver's side.

Having it on the Driver's side activates, having it on the Passenger side will deactivate it.

Thanks! That's what was affecting the behavior. I could not quite get what changes it as it was inconsistent. In my Acura (and actually most cars I drove, I'm doing plenty of rentals but it's mostly Japanese / Korean / American cars) there were 3 positions Right - Middle - Left. So Left / Right adjusting the mirrors and making the behavior lowering Left / Right mirrors. Middle setting stops mirror lowering behavior and correspondingly any mirrors adjustment. Here there are only two positions so it did not make sense initially.

This is how my Mercedes behaves as well.

Opposite in the Audi, but in fact I think my 2015 X5 worked the same way as the above. One thing I do like about the Audi is the fact that you can adjust the angle of tilt of the passenger mirror when it lowers. Good to know how it behaves in the G05.

Yep - this is how my Mercedes does it too. While the mirror is tilted down, you can manually adjust it to where ever you want it, and it will remember that setting for next time. Helpful because I have the driver side set different from the passenger side for when I have to parallel park on the left side of the road. Very helpful little "Easter Egg".

Would be nice to change how much it dips. I guess this may be code-able one day.

If you ever find yourself in any BMW (old or new)...the procedure has always been the same. Moving the side mirror control switch to the passenger side has been the method for deactivating the pass mirror tilt feature going all the way back to my 1991 e32 735iL, 1995 e34 540iT, e38 740iL, e39 540iT, e53 X5 4.4, and f06 650ix GC. See the instructions from their owners manuals below.
