Stop and Go Cruise Control - Does resume automatically?
Hi,
I am just wondering if the car resumes automatically if a vehicle in front moves when set in Stop and Go Cruise Control Mode with both Lane assist and distance assist ON. I make sure my hands are on steering, my eyes facing on the road straight and wait for few seconds but no luck. Every time I have press my accelerator paddle to start my car from stationery. Has anyone been able to use this feature without having to press accelerator paddle? Thanks! |

Usually there is a time limit - on the Q7 it's within 3 seconds. After that, you have to either restart with the accelerator or the ACC lever/dial.

Yes. If the vehicle in front of you moves off inside about 3 seconds, the cruise control will move you forward without yuou having to touch the accelerator. I only touch it once the Auto Hold light comes on on the dash. You will see the little vehicle in the HUD start to move and flash, which means the cruise control has detected the traffic ahead moving but it requires you to manually start your vehicle moving by pressing the accelerator. |

I did a test one time and looked away at a light, when the car in front of me move the engine started but it did not go until I hit the gas pedal. My guess is it uses the camera to make sure you are looking the road after the car has been stopped. Edit: I'm describing how it works in the US, it may be different in other countries. |

no it does not have to be in the plus mode. i use the regular driving assistant and it will start moving by itself, as long as it detects that you are looking forward. i have not noticed any time limit; but for sure it has worked after more than 30 seconds. you have to make sure the camera that watches your eyes is enabled for it to work

As long as you're looking straight ahead it will auto resume no matter how long you've been sitting in my experience. Even with sunglasses on it works for me. If I'm ever looking out the side window when traffic starts, the car will beep to prompt me to look forward and press the accelerator. It also shows a car (the one used to indicate it detects a car ahead) zooming off on the HUD and main screens when it does this.

i use it v often here in US... the car will resume driving as long as you are looking on the road and the stop is not long enough, i am not sure how many seconds but its definitely more than 15-20 sec... i guess
If the car is stopped and does not move, i simply push the click wheel forward on the steering (the one that we use to increase and decrease the cruise control speed) and it will resume driving |

Yes, and the easiest way to tell if you have successfully switched to plus mode is the green LEDs on the steering wheel. Those green LEDs would stay "ON", meaning that you don't need to hold the steering wheel. They would turn off when it switched itself out of the plus mode back to normal adaptive cruise control.

If the country you are in allows the use of the IR camera, it will resume automatically if you are looking straight ahead. Otherwise you need to use the accelerator pedal.
In Australia the IR camera is deactived for dumb reasons. |
