iDrive Constantly Rebooting

I have a 2013 F30 328i non-nav, non enhanced audio that I am having issues with. I have searched and not been able to find an answer for my problem. The other weekend my screen started turning off every 3 minutes or so and my music would turn off also. This is constantly happening everyday and I have tried disconnecting the battery and letting the car sit and that did not help. My phone will not pair with the car anymore either. I am really hoping that I do not have to replace the whole iDrive system as I am sure that is not a cheap fix. Anyone else ever deal with this before?

You'll need a new head unit.

This exact thing was happening to mine. I updated the firmware and it hasn't happened since.

Do not throw a new head unit at your car until you've exhausted other options. Thats just bad advice... and ignorant.

How can I update my firmware? I downloaded the update from BMW but it says my version on my car is current.

As per the above suggestion in relation updating firmware, that is the correct way. A flash using Esys and latest PSDZdata should do it. I have had many of these issues brought to me and managed to sort them all with a flash of the headunit to the latest version

I assume that would be a dealership only thing then?

No, if you have the right software and ENET cable you can do this yourself.

Thank you for the info. I have the software now and the cable on the way. Just trying to figure out what to use for the PSU now.

You could use another vehicle that's running via jump cables if you don't have an actual PSU

Sadly mine started doing the same thing after I plugged in my iPhoneXR to the media USB for charging and now it reboots every -minute. Anyone around the Coventry - Warwick area who could fix this.
Or maybe M3nt4l you could help me out on this.

Yes sure do you have ESYS and an enet cable with full Psdzdata?

Have you tried downloading the latest software update from BMW website:

https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html

Try that (you might not be able to complete it due to the reboot but worth a try)

If not get back in touch, I'm only based in Derby

Okay, since you have the .bin file just stick that on a fat32 formatted USB and put it into the USB slot in the car. Navigate to "software update" in the idrive and start it. Like I said with the reboot issue you might not be able to get that far within the given time but it's worth a shot.

There is an ESYS Flashing Guide Available online. I would upload it but I'm not at my laptop at the moment. A simple google search will bring it up.

Follow that and choose just HU(headunit) to flash
