Engine oil service

Would like to know when the engine oil service light goes up, what all parts are to be changed/serviced?

5.25 L of oil, paper filter, drain plug washer, plastic oil filter housing plug, and oil filter housing O ring. Afterwards, reset maintenance light.

What about oil filter, air filter? Also greasing of suspension or anything else? Because my other car (Audi) had a lot of things done whenever the car went for oil change service. The workshop guys would do complete check, grease the doors, suspension, etc.

Paper filter as in oil filter (it's made of a paper material as opposed to replaceable spin on metal kind on other cars). X1 stock suspension parts do not have grease fittings. The cabin and engine air filters should be changed as needed. Not necessarily at every oil change.

Thanks! Does the car have sensors to detect Air/Cabin filters if change is necessary?

No sensors. With factory filters, the best way to verify whether either needs to be changed is with a visual inspection.

However, if you're bringing it in to the dealership or independent mechanic, you may want to refer to the recommended intervals in the attached guides - inspect every 15k miles; replace, as needed, every 30k miles. Again, replacement interval would depend on how dirty each filter is. If you bring it to a shop without checking yourself, you'll have to rely on another person giving you an honest response.

I use K&N filters for both cabin and engine, which I inspect every about 6-8 months or 10-12k miles, whichever comes first. I follow K&Ns recommended cleaning procedure with their products. K&Ns intervals wouldn't apply for BMW factory filters.

I took my X1 in earlier this month for the first no-charge maintenance service (in Canada) at 18 months or 16,000 Km/10,000 mi. They replaced the cabin air filter without doing any visual inspection and said that is according to the Maintenance Schedule. On the other hand, they did not replace the engine air filter and said it lasts longer (at least until the next maintenance interval).

Is there any way to get hold of the official maintenance list by BMW. I somehow don't believe the workshop guys and it seems they try to hit their monthly targets

Is this region specific? Could you share the link so that I could look into my region and Diesel engine? Thanks!
