To spare or not to spare

Finalizing my X5 build. An X5 M50i with 22" rims. This will be a daily and in the winter I will be running dedicated winter tires/rims. For those with the spare option do you feel you lost a lot of cargo room? I don't think there are any good RFT options for the 22" staggered setup as such I am leaning towards the spare. Didn't realize the floor is raised an addition 3" to accommodate.

The floor is not raised for the spare. It is the same level whether you get the spare or not. Get the spare.

Turtleboy is correct, The X5 cargo floor is the same height no matter what. However, in the X3 it is raised 3" when you buy the optional spare tire kit, maybe that is what you might have been thinking about if you had also considered an X3. For me its a no brainer to get the optional spare tire kit, especially for what little BMW charges for it, seems like the best value of any of their options. The spare tire, whether you will run Run Flats or Non Run Flats provides a level of insurance against side wall blow outs.

If you spec the 22" rims the spare gets added to your build (in the US), so why not?

Get the spare, it's cheap when you build the car with it.. Adding it later is costly.

Very happy I did.
