Will this ABS pump work?

My ABS pump is going out and I found a pump. The number on mine is 3451-6778236-01 and the number on the one I found is 3451-6774929-01. Will this pump work on my car?

Thanks

None of those numbers come up in realoem as valid. These are all the related part numbers for the ABS pump:

Those are the numbers that are on the label on the abs pump. I'll look for another number.

it is strange that Realoem doesn't find it. Just Google the part and you can see thats the right part number. Here's an eBay hit for it showing that part number

and if you look up the other part on eBay that you are wondering if it will work and then do a fitment check, it says it is not a fit for a 2007 328i

try it here:

I looked on the pump and there is a a different part number on the controller but none of the numbers match the real oem numbers. I think the first number I posted is the number for the motor. I believe this motor is off a 06.

There have been a million different revisions of the DSC unit and it's easy to get lost.
Afaik all DSC units from a 6-cylinder car will fit in your 328.
4-cyl cars have a simpler unit.

I had to get a new DSC unit for my 2005 e87 118d. According to Real oem, none of the used pumps I found would fit my car.
In the end I ended up buying a DSC unit from 2013 e90 316i. It worked great after vin-change and coding.

What all did you have to code and what did you use? I have a Bimmer Geek cable and INPA installed on a laptop but I have never tried the software. I can get the exact info tomorow for the car that this pump came from. I figure that I can switch the controllers as a last resort.

It's a long time ago, but I think I used tool32 to change the VIN number, then I used NCSexpert to code the module to default settings from VO.

Did you do anything special to bleed the breaks or just gravity bleed?

Will my brakes work without coding after I put this pump in? I'm sure the ABS and DSC won't work until coded.

Before you buy a new one, I would give Module Master a call. Mine went in 2014 and I shipped the whole unit to them (module, pump, and hydraulic block). They refurbish it and send it back with a warranty. No part searching or coding! Mine is still going strong after 5 years and about 50k miles on the serviced part.

I've looked into them and I really can't afford to go with out a car for a week. I have a pump and all the tools to change it. I just need to figure out the coding part. Thank you

Swap the actual pump block only, keeping your original control module.
Any RWD 1 or 3 series pump block will work.

That was what I was thinking as a last resort. I would like to try to code the new pump. There is no one around here that does it and I can make some money doing it.

Do you know I the break will still work without the pump coded?

I think, based on the research I did on mine in 2014, that your brakes will work just fine, but (1) the ABS/DSC functions will not work, and (2) the dash will be lit up just like when it was bad. Until you get it coded of course, or figure out how to use INPA.

Last resort ? Why replace parts that are not bad/not working ?

Coding is easy, but you need software, cable, and experience. The module is held on by 4 screws, stupid easy swap.

I sent mine to module master for rebuild for $250 before shipping (at only 56k miles mind you) and couldn't be happier so far.

The old one failed why take the chance on a similar unit failing early.

I have had the pump apart and it is easy to swap the controller. I want to learn how to code. I have the cable and a laptop setup with the software from Bimmer Geek. I want to buy Protools in the future. There is no one around me who codes and the closest BMW dealer is one hour away. I figured I would switch the controllers out if I can't figure out the coding.

I put the whole new unit in my car and was able to calibrate it. The pump seems to be working correctly and I don't have any warning lights on my instrument cluster. I do have two fault codes that won't go away. They are "CDAD" and D35D. These codes were not there before I switch the unit and I can't figure out what they are.
