In my 2019 X5 4.0 that is about a month old I just noticed a different shade band going across the screen. it is about 1 inch from the top right under where the icons are - time, Bluetooth etc. Seems to happen it when the map is shown not anything else such as media phone etc. Has anyone encounter this?

Something like this in the pic below? If so, BMW support mofos told me it "was normal". My ass, it's obviously a software design or implementation bug. A picture of your concern would help to correlate.

LexxM3. Was your picture taken when it was dark outside or when your iDrive was in "night" mode?

I think the dark band you're seeing is BMW's representation of the night sky when the Nav is in 3D view mode. Does it change to light blue during the day?

Yes it was at night. And you may be right that that may have been the intent. But instead it just looks like a third of screen is missing for no reason regardless intent or rationalization. Sometimes, seemingly good ideas are actually bad and then you go and fix them, BMW UX hasn't learned that lesson yet. But I am not letting them off the hook for cute intent and bad execution.

Hi,

I also have issues with my sat nav screen freezing and not available, I also have a multiple list of faults within the car. Just wondering what other issues people have as within the UK we have a right to reject the vehicle in the first 30 days if faults found and BMW are seemingly acting oblivious to various issues.

if you zoom in - does the issue go away?

That was from a bug video I made a while back and since a) this is minor relative to other issues and b) the nav is not that good anyway in my areas to really use or trust much, I don't remember and will check and report back. But off the cuff, I tend to wiggle lots of things before reporting, so most likely no, zoom level generally did not make a difference.
