No Deal and tariffs after 31 Oct

Looks like we really are heading for no deal this time. So make sure you get in writing from dealer there will be no tariff applied if your vehicle arrives after 31 October

10% extra will be a very painful extra cost if not in your budget

Second hand values will increase so not all bad news. Might well be good value on cars manufactured outside of EU.

I took delivery of my G20 330i M-Sport two months ago so the question of tariffs does not currently effect me.
But none the less if a clean break no-deal Brexit happens so-be-it.
If due to tariffs BMW eventually fade from the U.K. and I don’t think it will, bear in mind nothing lasts for ever.

I hope Brexit happens, of course with a deal, as I have always believed that for politicians to tie up the U.K. to the rules and regulations dictated by other countries and for us eventually to become just a State within the EU with Germany pulling the strings including dictating all technical specifications is absolutely outrageous.

England as part of the U.K. has been an independent country with its own laws etc for near on a 1000 years what right has any government
got to change that.
I just cannot understand countries like Ireland and Scotland, particularly Ireland who have been desperate for independence for centuries tie themselves to the EU to become just a State.

I am just hoping that Boris Johnson will make Brexit happen, of course with a deal with EU and if rough times lie ahead, I fear not, I survived the bad times of the 1970’s with the three day working week due to Trade Union strikes and nothing other than a nuclear strike will equal that.

Many people I talk to will be stopping buying German and French goods if EU don't wish to negotiate what they feel is a sensible deal.

I can understand their views even if I might not agree with them. Time to lower monthly commitments and get some cash in the bank as a buffer I feel. Next few years look grim. Either a no deal Brexit or a Corbyn Government. Take your pick both mean the end of luxury purchases like BMW's for a lot of people. They just don't realise it yet

The price you pay is what you agreed when you paid the deposit. Even if tariffs are applied, they can only be passed on to new customers (orders after the 31st).

That's the way I see it anyways.

Look out for any Brexit clause text in contracts you sign. If it isn't there it will be hard for them to enforce - also works other way if your car is sat at customs waiting clearance. Its my fleet managers headache, if I get told I have to pay extra I will just cancel my order...

It's a tariff on imported goods, so it should only apply on cars arriving in the UK after 31 October.

Of course, manufacturers will probably publish new price lists reflecting the increased cost, and hope that people will pay the higher price even on cars which were imported prior to the introduction of the tariff.
