After changing my oil filter housing and cooler gaskets I decided to give my engine bay a good degreasing due to oil and coolant getting on the belts, I discovered my coolant overflow line didn't look too good. I gave it a little shake and the whole thing disintegrated. Luckily my local BMW parts department had it in stock. Part is $40 and should be swapped when the gaskets are done.

yeah, mine failed last summer and it looked deteriorated exactly like yours. I had about 75k on my car at the time so it's a good recommendation to inspect the overflow line ends.

I replaced mine as preventive maintenance when I installed my Chargepipe. I think the culprit is the amount of under-hood heat we experience with these turbo-charged engines. The plastic just takes a beating with all those heat cycles.

For sure. Heat cycles are no bueno for plastic parts.
