Are longer studs necessary for 5mm spacers?

The M2 doesn't have studs from the factory.

The OEM lugs are not recommended for use with any size spacers. Fortunately most spacers come with extended lugs.

I think what he was asking is if you need longer studs (when doing a stud conversion) to fit spacers.

As long as the nut tightens all the way onto the stud, you are good. The nut is open-ended and needs to have the stud end pass through it. No threads exposed in the nut. There is a point when you do need longer studs, but not sure where that point is.
