New E91 owner!
Hi everyone I am new to the forum and new to e91 BMWs.
I just bought a 2008 bmw 328xi from copart! I have been looking for and thinking about buying a touring for about a year and a half now. I could never find a car that seemed priced well and was taken care of (according to my own standards). I realized then why I couldn't find the right car, it was because I did not want a showroom car, I wanted a project car. This gave me the idea why not save a car from the junkyard? This is how I came to copart and my black e91 touring! My initial goals for this car is to repair the small amount of damage to the rear of the car and then push for some oem+ mods. I got the car at a shockingly low price and I am looking forward to seeing it in person. Yes, I understand the risk I am taking buying a car sight unseen, but as long as the car comes in mostly the same condition depicted in the photos. I will be very pleased. Here are the front seats that seem good but most importantly the right color! This is the rear seat with looks like almost new seats! This is the real meat of the damage to the car. From What I can tell she only needs:
I don't think there is any damage to any thing behind the bumper bar, I have compared the exposed rear of the car to others and it seems to appear to not be damaged! A tape measure will tell! I am hoping the small dent in the tail gate can be popped out and the tail lights are just in the back of the car! I might have to get a new wheel as well but i think the tire has only lost its bead. If these things turn of to be bad I already got a good deal lined but for getting all the replacements I need! I am really excited! now the damn truck driver needs to hurry up and get here! P.S. First forum post here so please forgive me if I messed something up. |

I picked her up for a little over $1000, would have been a better deal if I didn't have to to ship the car from PA to TX. In total little over $2k in but I am still happy.

Sounds like a killer deal...
I should start searching for an n54 swap but honestly my e91 still feels brand new I can't really bring myself to tear into it yet. Sure n54 power will be cool, but that n52 is just such a great N/A motor. It's really under appreciated for what it is. With a 3 stage and tune it is close to s52 numbers... it makes a great noise, especially when opened up a little with the proper m performance bits. BTW: welcome to the long roof club, it's pretty exclusive here in the states |

The n54 swap is something I hope to do. when I can find a cheaper 335i junker and the wife doesn't kill me. But in the time being I am looking at just getting better tires. maybe refresh the joints and make sure the shocks are good. I am a member of a local track and want to see what she can do in stock form with just tires. I want to try and transform this car in to an all arounder. Road course, Drift, Drag. I plan on enjoying the car while on its way to be transformed and want to take my time. I wont be chasing huge horse power with this car but I feel some good goals would be high 10's low 11's 1/4 mile and around 1:45-1:50 at my home track and I would be very happy. I think I would only need about 450-500WHP to hit these times. Luckily these horse power goals only require a bolt on n54 more or less. I have had a evo project car that spent 80% of its life on jack stands and I would rather not do that again |

Nice, congrats! Hopefully it's a quick cosmetic turn around for you to get this thing road worthy.

quick, but very late update:
So I got my wagon back on the road for under $500 in parts First time I drove it was at night and that was when i found out the head lights were shot. I was able to find all my missing items from a local yard (crash bar, trunk floor, taillights, tailgate, everything!) My most exciting find was the cargo cover! It was in ok condition but far from mint. Some how dispite this being a junker I got everything to work, nothing leaks, and she got 28 MPG! I thought I bought a used bmw not a honda lol I was able to drive the car to work for about 4 months and for a junk yard car I was happy with it! The offical fit list: Rear crash bar Rear bumper Tailgate Cargo cover Trunk Floor front left spring head light polished new light blubs for headlights (cheap oem ish) removed all tacky rubber from plastics all fluids new tire new gound wires on engine Only sad part about this whole this is I lost all of my photos. so this is the only photo I have of her with a n52 her current state: |
