Radiator-Should I Install This
Just received a Behr radiator for my 2006 330i. Two issues below noted on opening the package. Ready to put my car back together this weekend, but hesitant to use this radiator. Thoughts?
1. The radiator is a little tweeked. You can see the gap when it is placed on a flat surface. The BMW original radiator I removed lays perfectly flat. 2. This painted black spot. Why? |

So your car is already apart, ready to install the radiator? That makes it a bit easier in my eyes:
1) I wouldn't worry at all about the black spot. Probably some sort of manufacturing ID or quality control marking. 2) As long as it installs OK, I don't think that amount of warping would be a problem. If you can dry-fit it just fine, then I'd say you're fine. That would be a tough decision to tear your car apart if it wasn't already, but I'd go ahead and try,

I got a Behr as a replacement for my radiator. It was tweaked like that too. I sent it back to ECS and the next one wasn't any better. I installed it and it's been just fine for the 18 months it been in there. I don't think the build is cosmetically pretty.

Thanks. The car is apart already so I will just dry fit it and see how it goes. Side-by-side the Behr and BMW OE is definitely a cosmetic difference for sure.
