E91 USB/AUX audio issue

Hi everyone.

I have a 2010 E91 LCI and there is aux and USB port in the center armrest.

The aux doesn't work and the USB has power because charges the phone but if I plug in pendrive with music the audio system doesn't recognize it. The USB drive was tested in F30 so the pendrive and the file system is ok.

I read that maybe it's the MULF module but the radio works.

Any advice or some tip to try out?

Check fuse for Mulf/combox .
Replace of verify the existing one.
What happens when you try to select usb
or aux on you existing pro radio or idrive.
Is this car new to you or was it working at one
point?

I checked the fuse box based on the diagram included with the car.
Is okay that like four of them are missing? (63,56,42 etc.)

Not likely the fuses got up an walked away those are
options you don't have.
The ones under telephone would be more likely .
combox covers telephone to.

You need a better fuse map.

It's probably NOT a fuse, but check F13 (10A) which powers the USB Hub (A813) and ULF (U400e) per this TIS schematic:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-sbx-h/uZMgnLO

You don't say what radio options you have in your vehicle (check online VIN Decoder), or what your radio display shows when you press the "Audio" button or view the available Inputs to the radio head unit.

How many of the following do you see as available Inputs, and which ones have worked during your ownership?:
1) CD
2) Aux
3) USB

If you have an extra Thumb Drive or flash drive, just put ONE audio file (in either WAV or MP3 format) on that drive (delete anything else), connect it to the USB port under the center armrest, and see what shows up on the display when you select "USB" as the Audio Input. Give the system a minute or two to load Drive/ File information (that's why you don't want any other file but the ONE audio file on the drive for test purposes).

At some point (2010 or 2011?) I believe BMW used a head unit that would actually store audio files IN memory in the head unit (you could load files from an external hard drive/ flash drive). My 2007 just stores Directory & File INFO on up to 4 different flash drives, and plays the files from the flash drive without actually saving audio files (wav or mp3) in the vehicle's memory.

If you do NOT have the Owner's Manual for radio/audio that originally came with the vehicle, you can download it from:
http://www.bavarianmw.com/guide-1347.html

Please let us know what you find,
George

First of all thanks for the comment. I checked all the things you mentioned.

1. If only one audio mp3 is on the usb drive still not working.

2. The fuses are ok.

3. All three options worked just fined (CD, AUX, USB + radio -> the only one working right now)

4. In the attachment you can see what USB says
after the 1 song drive was inserted. (Not connected)

You also stated in prior posts:
1) The aux doesn't work and
2) the USB has power because charges the phone but
3) if I plug in pendrive [which works fine in F30] with music the audio system doesn't recognize it.

I also understand from your Post #3 that BOTH the USB and AUX inputs worked earlier in your ownership, and now the Radio still works. I do NOT understand if the CD now works or has ever worked during your ownership. Having a correct understanding of each of those facts would be helpful to proper diagnosis if you can confirm/correct.

Your Radio/Speaker System (S676A) and USB/Audio Interface (S6FLA) are same as mine (3/14/2007 build date 328xit), although I do NOT have i-drive. Both my USB & AUX inputs work. When I select USB Input after pressing "Audio", if there is NO Flash drive attached to the USB Cable/Socket, the Display (on the radio panel on my non-iDrive) says "Empty". When I plug a Flash Drive into the USB Cable (which remains plugged into USB socket at all times to prevent damage to rather "flimsy" Connector) the Display says "Loading".

I have NEVER seen the message "Not connected" on my display. As stated above, if there is NO Flash Drive inserted in the USB socket, the message on my Radio Display Panel is "Empty." Assuming your iDrive CID displays basically the same information, my interpretation of that message is that ONE of the USB Socket Connector wires related to "USB Data" (see circuit linked below) is disconnected. That is based upon your statement that the USB socket STILL charges devices, which means the (+)Voltage and Ground connections to the USB Socket are intact.

Here is the ULF-SBX-H interface box High TIS circuit diagram for your 2010 E91 LCI as far as I can determine. You should go to HOME page of TIS and enter the last 7 characters of your VIN, and then get correct circuit for your VIN.:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...agram/B3g0VVZv

The TIS circuit diagrams are Interactive, which means you can click on any BLUE Component ID# and get more information, such as "Installation Location" or "Connector View." Here is Installation Location for A267a:
