2010 335i lights failed in a very suspicious way
I've kept my 2010 335i perfectly maintained but the starter went a few days ago, no big deal, cars got 90k. rather than tow it all the way across town to my usual guy I brought it to an indy around the block thinking it wasn't a hard job. got it back yesterday and now my left headlight/turn signal doesn't work and my right tailight/signal doesn't work. all accessories and light were fine after the starter went so something he did while it was in shop killed the lights. what do you think could have gone wrong during diagnostics and starter replacement to cause this? he replaced the drive belt as well due to wear. I brought it back to him today and he couldn't figure out what was wrong and played dumb, im thinking he messed up somehow and is trying to cover his own ass. now I just want to know what to look for and what to expect, what do you guys think caused the lights to go out diagonally like this? all other accessories work. could any of this affected the frm module?

Have you tried swapping bulbs right to left just to make sure they are not blown? If they are fine it is probably the FRM that fried when the mechanic reattached the battery.

it can't be the bulbs, the odds of them all failing within 2 days seems almost impossible, they all worked before. Im starting to think it may be the footwell module. I went onto bmw-rp and entered my vin just in case, it had reimbursement listed for the frm under 10yr/156miles, which luckily I am within. besides it potentially being the frm, what else could it be, the car was towed, had starter and belt replaced, nothing else.

The easiest thing is to swap the tail lights. it takes all of 2 minutes. the result of that will give us some insight into your issue.

Brought it to dealership, it was the frm. Must of fried when the mechanic reconnected the battery. They approved my car for the warranty so I’m getting it fixed for free. Glad I looked into it, otherwise I would of had an Indy charge me a grand for this
