E92 2007 Coupe Whirring Screeching

Hi all, my bmw e92 2007 randomly started to make this whirring / screeching sound..

Any ideas what it could be?

I did accidentally kerb it today as someone nearly went into the side of me at a yellow box junction... may be a coincidence but not too sure.

Any help would be appreciated ❤️

Sounds like a pulley bearing going bad to me. When my AC pulley bearing went out I had those same kind of noises.

Hi guys, thanks for replying

For some reason, the noise went away today but...

I did a google search and I found this page: https://www.bimmerrepairs.com/blog/t...ump-in-bmw.php

I then checked the Power Steering Oil and noticed it was way below the minimum required.. The dipstick wasn't even touching the oil... so I topped it up to the required level.

Hoping this solves it.

I've got the car booked in with BMW in two weeks time.. for an inspection to find and solve this problem.. but just wondering if the noise has gone away now.. if they'll actually find it.

If its a pulley that needs changing I guess that'll find that.

You would be better off finding yourself a reputable indi rather than going to a main dealer, I suspect that you’ll be charged £140 just for them to do a diagnostic (read any stored fault codes).
