Stupid tailgate e90 issue
Ok hoping someone else has had this and can help
2005 BMW 320d e90 recently my cars developed this neat trick of popping my boot mainly when I pull up to lights go to set off an pop it opens I slam boot it opens again and again till I loose my shit an nearly slam it through the floor its happened when I've unlocked the car and opened the drivers door too It can go ages without doing it then out of the blue it happens Ok so I e checked the wiring bending the harness slightly incase there's a break in a wire nothing I've made sure the boot is free from obstruction Any help would be great all I can think is if it's a micro switch on lock or tailgate release causing an issue |

I think you need to scan the car with a BMW scan tool and see if there are any electrical circuit codes. That's where I'd start.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Tail lights build up crud on the semi-spring connection, and that connection sometimes gets bent too far back making the "connection" hit & miss.
So, clean up the metal connection, in the white, plastic light cluster, with a screwdriver or something you can use to scrap the crap off of it. Bend the metal connector forward towards you to ensure when you put a bulb in there, that there's definitely some resistance. Also use, CRC di-electric grease on the ends of the bulbs. CRC 05105 Technician Grade Di-Electric Grease Compound - 3.3 Wt Oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CIRU6W..._Gr1hDbQG7D4AM |

Ground Issue Very Likely
I had that issue. It is a loose ground return point. Behind the inside wheel well trim on the right side there is a common grounding point. All ground wires related to the trunk area come together. The nut was loose in my case. When the drive, the cars vibrates and you get intermittence. The trunk latch has a tendency to unlock as a result of this intermittence. Tighten the nut and the problem is gone.
