Manual 1st gear problem

Hi guys, my E90 2006, 220t kilometers is having problem with shifting 1st gear occasionally, usually at traffic ligts. It always helps to realease and push clutch again but it is annoying. Sometimes even hard pushing helps or the gear fits while releasing the clutch a bit. I have already changed oil 6 months ago but no difference. Any idea what could cause it? May the flush help?
Thanks

This is common on many manuals. Pressing clutch twice is one way. You can also open the gate by shifting into 2nd then 1st gear. That's what I usually do.

Clutch might be on its way out. Or the clutch hydraulics might need to be redone. Where does it engage (pedal travel)?

Clutch seems to be ok,no problem with any other gears and I can easily move off to hill without using hand/park brake. On 1st gear the car starts to move in approx 2/3 of pedal.

You might try Redlne D4 or D6 as the transmission fluid.

redlineoil.com

Smoothed out my notchy shifts in the lower gears.

BMW's manual transmissions are notchy. Period.
It will never shift like a Honda or other cars. Putting the car into 1st gear, and going from 1st to 2nd will be notchy almost always. I've learned to just deal with it.

Changing the oil "can" help, but sounds like you are experiencing normal BMW shifting.

I would never put automatic trans fluid into my manual transmission, I know Redline "recommends" it, but I will pass.
I just flushed my manual trans fluid over the weekend with genuine BMW fluid.
Shifts just like the day I got it.. buttery smooth, except the notchiness in 1st and 2nd.
