Consumer Groups Help with Bay Area Car Donations
If you have questions or concerns when making Bay Area car donations, there are resources for help.
The Better Business Bureau provides consumer information and protection. The BBB can let you know if the charity you plan to give to is in good standing and whether it has a history of complaints.
Another resource is the California Department of Consumer Affairs, at 1-800-952-5210. If you experience problems when making your car donation in the Bay Area, you can call this toll-free number.

What exactly is the concern?

I'm assuming you are donating to get a tax deduction, so I'd start by doing research on the IRS website to make sure you have all the documentary evidence needed to support the deduction you are claiming on your taxes. This can include proof of the organization's not for profit status, vehicle appraisal etc.

Car Donation Cherity

Vehicle Donation: Advice

For your own protection, fill in the necessary places including the mileage. If possible, make a photostat copy of the transferred title. Get a receipt from the person who takes your car. Remove the tag(s), check under the seats, glove box, the trunk and over the sun visors for items you might of forgotten to remove. Do not cancel your car insurance on this car until you either transfer the tags to your new/used vehicle or you turn the tags in to the DMV then you can notify the insurance company.
Donate a car in the Golden State - The car donation process is fast and simple. With your California car donation you'll receive a tax deductible receipt plus a free vacation voucher!
