I noticed in comfort the engine runs hotter than in sport + setting.
I am certainly positive sport + enables more cooling than any other modes.

Thermostat should keep it steady under normal use. The only time it should climb is high load and or high ambient when the stat is fully open and then it can't add any more cooling.
Oil filter / stat housing is also water cooled too which helps. |

I have the same set up as you and the oil temp is the same as when she was stock on a spirited drive. Stays around this in MDM mode Sport Plus.

It will be the same under normal use because that is what thermostats are for....
Yours shows 105deg C, perfect (each mark is 5deg). Thick marks are 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 / 170. N54 limp mode was 146degC, hit that at Donnington in my old 335i tourer. Over 100degC is good as that boils off moisture / condensate from the oil which is essential for keeping things in good nick. Last edited by doughboy; 06-22-2019 at 03:07 PM.. |

As a side note it’s rapid but controllable - I’ll WhatsApp you my thoughts just wanted to give it a bit of time so I could get a good feel for it! |

at my tuned N54 e82 1 M coupe (FMIC, DPs, ecu flash) i always run into trouble above 120celsius degrees oil temp., hot mode, power reduction. (420hp/680nm)
at the S55 f87n M2 Comp never high oil temps, flashed or not flashed even flat autobahn vmax chasing always approx 100-105degrees celsius. (state 1+, turbo back exhaust which is with 2x100cell highflow cat, no GPF and ecu remap 550hp/750nm at dyno). but, I was in hotmode once or twice, power reduction. maybe the water temperature was too high? so, where to check the water temp!? the top mounted intercooler (heat exchanger) was at the stock car always really cold, like water condensation in its aluminum surface! with the tune, its warm now, approximately 30 degrees celsius, no condensation drops on it! do i need to upgrade the water radiator? heat exchanger? or both? is there an upgrade waterpump also? I haven’t found one yet.. what to do? litchfield offer upgrades(forge, csf), wagner and vsrf also; https://www.litchfieldmotors.com/bmw...m4-f82-cooling https://www.wagner-tuningshop.de/pro...0001003-2.html https://www.wagner-tuningshop.de/pro...0001124-2.html https://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-s55-to...0-f82-f87.html best! CRS Cooler
My factory oil cooler was trashed from track debris, so I upgraded to the CRS unit.....perfect fit and adds volume. After install I noticed a 20+F degree reduction just on the street...haven't tested on track yet.
