Headlight switch question?

Hi everyone

Just got my m35i. I just find out the light switch "position 0" will turn on the low beam automatically when dark... which is same function as the "position auto"

is this normal?

DRL should be the ring made up of three lines, not low beam, something wrong with your DRL connection if this is the case.

GCP My only assumption is that since you're in canada I believe the law changed 20 years ago that there MUST be DRL on all the time no matter what, so it could be that it is coded that even on option ZERO with your headlight switch that it'll turn on. It could also mean that the low beam then turns on with the sensor when it's dark. You should be able to call the dealer to ask them. Still, I see not much point to actually have your car completely dark... if you want it that way it should be in park and off In fact, I ended up coding my back LEDs to be on with the DRL. I saw an X2 m35i for the first time on the road and didn't like the way the single light was on for the brakes.

Might be a Canadian thing?
Downunder when you turn the light switch to '0', only the DRLs remain on (the bright LED around the circumference of the headlights).

But the low beams stay off.

You can switch off the DRLs from the vehicle settings/lights/exterior menu.

Looks like in 'Canadia' they really want you to have some light at the front

Perhaps you could code it out using Bimmercode?

I used that to activate my rear DRLs so they switched on with fronts (which is all the time in my case)

cheers

Again.. why bother messing with the coding to turn it off, when it's illegal to have it off? One thing is for sure you'll get a ticket eventually with it off.
